Chris,
ReplyDeleteDo you graft or have someone do it? What seedlings do you use as stock?
Have you ever grafted more then one variety on a single tree? My parents got a tree from a Mango farmer in Miami who had grafted 5 typed on one tree..
We graft varieties that are not commonly available. Har and I often work together on grafting. Next year we might expand our grafting efforts.
ReplyDeleteOur rootstock is somewhat varied. We try to keep track of the variety used and evaluate its vigor, general quality and interesting characteristics. This year we are grafting onto Turpentine, Dwarf Hawaiian and Eckler rootstock.
I'm very interested in grafting more than one variety onto one tree, and we have several trees that we're working on now. Perhaps in several months some will be available for sale.
