Black Sapote

Black Sapote (or Black Persimmon) is delicious and is a good source of vitamin A and C, and potassium.  Here's some info on it...

I like to eat Black Sapote fresh by itself or with other fruit, or in green smoothies (which should be renamed "black smoothies").  Black Sapote makes excellent ice cream, and great faux German Chocolate cake.

Fruit for Saturday, January 10

  • Coconuts
  • Sugar Apple...this is the last strong day for sugar apples until July.  Three varieties.
  • Carambola...plentiful, look and taste great.  Two varieties.
  • Black Sapote...today marks the end of the first crop on one of our two trees.  It'll be a couple months before the second crop on that tree is ready.  Our other tree has far less fruit, but that should ripen over the next month or so.
  • a few Alano Sapodilla...a few of a second variety of sapodilla will be ready soon
  • one 7-pound Jak Fruit

We also sell fruit trees

Open 9am-11:45

Fruit for Saturday, January 3

Late afternoon I picked carambola, black sapote and sugar apple.  They look great.
Also I found a Jak Fruit, but I suspect that it was not fully pollinated.  It's light for it's size (9lbs).

I actually found a few sapodilla that are almost ripe!

Also available are a couple avocado and papaya.
...and when you buy 10 or more coconuts, the price drops to $1.50 each.

We have started to sell mint, and soon basil will be ready to harvest.  We have parsley planted, but it's still small.

Open today 9am - 11:45
